“When accelerating through an intersection, my vehicle lost acceleration power and the power brakes failed. After restarting the vehicle, the vehicle was slowly moved to a side street, backing-up traffic on the busy street. The vehicle was towed to a ford dealership and the diagnosis was that throttle body needed replacing. The service cost me $503 plus tax.”
NHTSA complaint #10558026, filed 2013-12, 25,134 miles“Vehicle lost power. Turning it off and back on would restore power, but the problem would then happen again. Replaced mass airflow indicator, but problem came back in a few days. Now they say I need a new throttle body but the part is on back order and I have been waiting over a week. I can not use the vehicle until it is repaired.”
NHTSA complaint #10520995, filed 2013-06, 39,132 miles“I was driving down the street at about 30 miles an hour and all of a sudden the car lost power and I felt like I was in low gear. The power surged causing the car to buck and stall, I was on a city street”
NHTSA complaint #11308083, filed 2020-02, 22,078 miles“I have no throttle response, engine RPM drop back to an idle, engine runs rough and stalls. No power. Moving to the side of the road, turn engine off and restart and will runs fine, but today this problem recurred every 4 miles. I was only 22 miles from home but that is a lot of stopping along side of the road.”
NHTSA complaint #10532143, filed 2013-07, 64,500 miles“My vehicle suddenly stalled when I was driving and no matter how much I tried to press on the gas...it would not move safely. I was very lucky because this was at a traffic intersection on beechmont and eight mile. I proceeded to drive it to the enterprise parking lot albeit it was extremely slow and I had cars honking at me because of the lights on the intersection. The mechanic repair shop says it's the throttle body.”
