“My break peddle goes almost to the floor of the car when I come to a red light or stop sign. I've brought my vehicle to the dealership on 4 seperate occasions and was told that they could not find anything wrong with my breaks. I recently brought to an independent repair shop and was told that I needed a new master cylinder. The master cylinder was replaced but I'm still having trouble with the position of the break when I come to a stop. There are several owners on line complaining about the same issue. Can someone please look into this and get back with me?”
NHTSA complaint #11246245, filed 2019-08, 55,000 miles“When pulling up to home to park along street and brakes would not engage.hear a loud noise and brake message popped up on dashboard. Brake pedal fell to floor. Pulled emergency break to stop vehicle. Had vehicle towed to car docs in rocklin ca where they diagnosed the ABS module (and other module failure). They stated that this tends to happen on older ford/Mercury hybrids, and they were surprised that there wasn't a recall.”
NHTSA complaint #11350623, filed 2020-08, 135,000 miles“Car stalled while my granddaughter was driving on the highway. It also did not accelerate. She had to step on the brakes to get the car to move. She immediately got a diagnosis from auto zone (throttle body system open- p2111), then took the car to the ford dealership where the problem was confirmed and repaired. An emergency light came on during this problem.”
NHTSA complaint #10550294, filed 2013-10, 80,000 miles“Driving downhill after dropping my children off at school heard a loud popping noise and brake pedal fell to the floor. Total loss of brakes. Coasted to the side off the road narrowly avoiding busy intersection. Vehicle was looked at by mechanic, traced to faulty ABS Sensor. Serious safety hazard— Recall must be issued immediately to prevent accidents and injuries!”
NHTSA complaint #11484084, filed 2022-09“Brake pedal went to floor on my 10 Mariner, slid into intersection, no warning lights came on, checked for any fluid leaks and there were none. This is 2nd time it has happened and is extremely dangerous! Believe, like others that it is the ABS control. Ford should fix this immediately!”
