“Was alerted that my left rear passenger tail light on my 2010 Mercury Milan Hybrid was abnormally bright and that brake light did not change illumination level. Took car to dealership and was informed that entire assembly was faulty and would need to be replaced for $600. I have an extended warranty, premiumcare ecp, and was told that this was not a warranty eligible item and is instead considered consumable because there are leds involved. There are no bulbs burned out, they are highly illuminated all the time due to a manufacturing defect. This is a safety issue, not a convenience issue.”

I was coming off of an interstate onto an exit ramp and had to stop at a stop light. The pedal went to the floorboard. I had to pump it up to stop. It is still a soft pedal.”

The contact stated while driving at approximately 35 MPH, the brake pedal was depressed to the floorboard and failed to operate as designed. The contact activated the parking brake and continually pumped the brake pedal, and the vehicle was able to come to a stop. Several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The contact called the local dealer, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline. …”
NHTSA complaint #11538300, filed 2023-08, 156,000 miles“The contact's mother owns a 2010 Mercury Milan Hybrid. The contact stated that while his mother was attempting to stop, the brake pedal was depressed but went to the floorboard, and the vehicle responded slowly. The ABS warning light was illuminated. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V904000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic). The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who determined that the Hydraulic Electronic Control Unit (HECU) had failed. The local dealer confirmed that the VIN was not under recall for the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. …”
