“As I was driving down the turnpike about 65 MPH car began to slow and would not accelerate past 40 MPH even with gas pedal pressed fully - slow to pick up any speed after braking. Wrench lights came on dash. Very dangerous. I see this is an issue (throttle body) with later models too. Repair should be covered on this year as well.”
NHTSA complaint #10945449, filed 2017-01, 79,000 miles“Was driving down the interstate at 65 MPH, vehicle suddenly lost acceleration and engine and throttle/power train indicator lights illuminated on the dash. Had to pull off on the side of the highway. I turned off the vehicle and turned it back on, I was able to drive the vehicle home at 40 MPH, but the indicator lights remained on.”
NHTSA complaint #10759828, filed 2015-08, 56,000 miles“I have a 2010 Mercury milan. This has been an intermittent problem: sometimes the car feels like it does a hard gear shift--the wrench light comes on and the car loses power. I still have power steering and power brakes but pressing on the gas does nothing. If I turn off the engine and restart, it is fine--sometimes for a few minutes and sometimes for a few months.”
NHTSA complaint #10648307, filed 2014-10, 74,000 miles“I was driving between 35-40 MPH when all of a sudden I lost power. Although I subsequently had the accelerator to the floor, the vehicle reduced its speed drastically and could not exceed about 10 MPH. I pulled over and the wrench indicator light came on. I was able to drive to a parking lot at very low speed and turned the vehicle off. When I turned it back on, it was responsive for about two blocks and the same symptoms reappeared. This time the wrench light and check engine light came on. Fortunately, I was a few blocks from a ford dealer. …”
NHTSA complaint #10731228, filed 2015-06, 90,925 miles“The vehicle sporadically loses power and the wrench light goes on indicating a supposed engine problem. When the vehicle is turned off and restarted, the engine performs normally until the next time this sporadic failure occurs. It has repeated itself several times in the last few weeks, and the trouble code that has been logged is p2112, which relates to a throttle body failure. …”
