“I was driving on a highway and noticed heavy smoke coming from the front passenger side by the headlights. I pulled over and fire started shooting up. I was told 'it's electrical and nothing to do with the front end that was being worked on' which was 4 days prior. Also I was told there's no recall on that particular area.”
NHTSA complaint #11085179, filed 2018-04, 120,500 miles“The dim lights are dangerously low and are a hazard to night driving. This is known problem for Nissan and to NHTSA. I am wondering what the criteria is for enforcing a safety recall. Does someone have to die? Or cause a fatal accident? Or does it have to be multiple accidents? I am frustrated and at my wits end trying to get some well deserved attention to this matter.”
NHTSA complaint #11257401, filed 2019-09“I was driving at night on a backroad highway & noticed the driver headlight out so I started used my brights, then noticed smoke & flames coming from the driver side headlight I immediately pulled over called 911 & tried pouring water on it myself while I wait. Took about 8 mins for police & maybe 12-15 for fire department. The police tried to use a fire extinguisher which did not work, by the time fire department got there the whole car was completely up in flames & burnt to the ground.”
NHTSA complaint #11362725, filed 2020-10“The contact owns a 2010 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that there was a substantial amount of water in the passenger side headlight.
