“My airbag light came on and now flashes. I took it to my son, a mechanic with rick matthews buick gmc and the codes came up as either a seat sensor matt or occupant classification...the seat needs to be replaced and I called a Nissan dealership and they said it would bo over $2,000.00. My airbags will not work now.”

NHTSA complaint #11377497, filed 2020-12, 119,000 miles

“Passenger air bag sensor not working properly'will randomly stop working with 175lb passenger but yet works with 30lb bag placed on seat. Vehicle is in motion and can happen on city streets as well as highway speeds. This issue is still occurring. The car was purchased used with 30,000 miles in january 2014. Most of the time I do not have a passenger but I'd like them to be protected when I do.”

NHTSA complaint #10810724, filed 2015-12, 30,000 miles

“The air bag warning light began flashing. Brought it to an auto mechanic who reset it, ran code and found out that the occupant classification system (ocs) control unit in passenger seat was the code it was throwing. Told me that it was not sending the right signal to the airbag. To fix the problem it would cost me $2500.00 to get a brand new seat with the ocs unit. The airbag warning light does not stop flashing and resetting it does no good. I now have no airbag for passenger side. This is a dangerous situation. These vehicles had recalls on this system for the years. …”

NHTSA complaint #11390880, filed 2021-01, 106,000 miles

“Takata recall. I took my Nissan Rogue in for inspection on nov. 30, 2017. I was told that it would be rejected for the airbag light. I then took it to Nissan to have them tell me what the problem was and they told me it would be $250 to tell me what the problem was. Not understanding why that would be I took it to a mechanic that does my service and he said that it was the passenger occupancy sensor. He also told me that Nissan had stated to them that it was on recall. I was a little confused since that was never stated to me when I was there. …”

NHTSA complaint #11060696, filed 2018-01, 125,000 miles

“The incident happened on march 15, 2018. I was sitting at a stop light on a city street and the side 'curtain' airbags went off on both sides for no reason. No one else was around...nothing fell on the car. The car wasn't damaged in any way except the airbags. Luckily I was only a few blocks from home - so I drove it home. I was not physically injured. The car sits in my driveway as I wait for a decision from Nissan as to whether it was their fault or not. (I do not know who's fault it is...are these tamara airbags? I do not know. I do know, however, that it is not my fault!). …”
