Example complaints

Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“You name it, it has broken. The rear wiper motor quit in the middle of use. When it rains and I turn right, the whole van just stops. Right now, can't turn right without constant noise and jerking. Have had the front axle replaced 4 times. Something keeps tearing it up. I was told motor mounts, but that is expensive to replace. I was also told the engine, the transmssion, the wheels. I get different stories from each person. Can't contact Plymouth manufacturer. Car stalls between gears then jerks into next gear. …”

NHTSA complaint #701981, filed 1999-01

“Consumer took vehicle to dealer for recall repair of the drive assembly, when the consumer returned to pick up the vehicle, they noticed the front window where the work was performed was cracked, the dealer acknowledged the cracked window, and also that it was not cracked when the vehicle was brought in, they are not willing to take any responsibility.”

NHTSA complaint #561739, filed 2001-07

“Vehicle has experienced the same wiper failure on 2 occasions, linkage came off stud for motor, a nut came off, and left pivot came off on linkage, dealer replaced linkage and pivots, consumer is requesting reimbursement for the second failure since it happened only 110 miles after dealer repaired wipers from first failure.”

NHTSA complaint #559574, filed 2001-02

“The motor on the rear windshield wiper failed. I have had numerous system failures on this vehicle, including transmission, air conditioning, rack and pinion steering. Most of the failures were within the first couple of years of ownership. Most were not of the ordinary variety.”

NHTSA complaint #10025925, filed 2003-07

“The first transmission trouble begin by not going in drive, thistransmission was covered by our extended warranty, was replaced in march 1997, the second transmission began to have trouble in november of 1998. The second transmission has not been replaced as of yet. Also the rear wiper motor no longer works and you can only purchase a new motor from a dealer.”
