“My G6 currently is not covered in the recent recalls for this problem (not manufactured in the right month): my problem is the same as other G6 owners where my brake lights will illuminate while driving, and will not illuminate when my brakes are applied, which also affects my cruise control. Over the last 3 years I have had the dielectric lubricant applied 3 times and after 8-12 months the problem returns.”

NHTSA complaint #10606846, filed 2014-06, 60,000 miles

“Brake lights are malfunctioning. Lights are stuck on when brake pedal is not depressed, and turn off when it is. Cruise control doesn't function when this problem is occurring. I know there is a recall on some 2005 G6 models but my car wasn't included in the recall. The recall needs to be expanded to include more cars.”

NHTSA complaint #10420933, filed 2011-08, 83,000 miles

“The brake lights will stay on after I remove my foot from the brake pedal, there are also times they do not illuminate when I have my foot on the brake. I also have problems shifting out of park. I have to push the brake pedal very hard for my car to shift. I have also had problems with my cruise control not engaging when I tried to turn it on. I hit the button for cruise & the light just flashes back off instead of staying on like it should.”

NHTSA complaint #10547425, filed 2013-10, 76,854 miles

“I have a 2005 Pontiac G6 gt. The brake lights, with no known cause, began to stay on when accelerating and turn off when the brake was hit. This occurred day and night without any known cause. The bigger problem was that the lights worked sometimes, making it hard to diagnose a problem. I have yet to find a mechanic who has been able to determine and correct the brake lights.”

NHTSA complaint #10246251, filed 2008-10, 34,000 miles

“The evening of january.24th,2017 I was traveling on the highway heading home and when I went to slow down because a semi pulled out in front of me I noticed the cars behind me were not reducing their speed & the car behind me almost hit me but swerved to avoid it then laid on their horn cussing me because my brake lights were not working until I let off the brakes they came on and stayed on, so I pulled over put car in park my husband got out and was checking things out and sure enough it was like they had a mind of their own. …”
