“Today (sunny, 65 degrees) while driving at 60 MPH, on highway 120 in manteca, ca (a 2 lane highway) with no other vehicles around my sunroof spontaneously shattered. The door windows were not open but the rear slider window may have been open. I washed the vehicle earlier this week and dried the windows immediately to avoid water spots and did not notice any cracks in the sunroof. The sunroof has been opened two, maybe three times since purchasing the vehicle in may 2019. The vehicle has 10,800 miles on it. I drove immediately to the dealership and showed them what happened. …”
NHTSA complaint #11317961, filed 2020-03, 10,800 miles“The rear view back-up camera functions intermittently. Sometimes it works as expected, sometimes it displays a partial distorted image, sometimes the screen is black, sometimes it displays a blue screen with the message camera system unavailable. The error has occured for several years. Every time I see a camera recall for ram I expect my vehicle to be part of it but never seems to be. Talking to others it seems to be a known issue, but not a known repair--could be one of several things causing the problem. Finally decided to take it in for repair at my expense on 10/16/2026.”
NHTSA complaint #11771522, filed 2026-10“The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the U-Connect display screen malfunctioned, causing light to be present inside the cabin of the vehicle and causing a visibility hazard for the driver while operating the vehicle in the dark. On one occasion the driver nearly hit a pedestrian due to the poor visibility caused by the defect. The local dealer and manufacturer were notified of the safety issue, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 80,000.”
NHTSA complaint #11440740, filed 2021-11, 80,000 miles“The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact stated while driving 65 MPH, the defroster was engaged, however, the Automatic Climate Control display independently switched from defrost to A/C due to the delamination of Automatic Climate Control touchpad screen. The contact stated that she manually re-engaged the defroster; however, the failure persisted. The contact stated that the failure had been reoccurring while driving. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the Automatic Climate Control display needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. …”
NHTSA complaint #11501239, filed 2023-01, 99,000 miles“The radio screen has delaminating which causes random pushing of buttons on the display. This is a known issue with dodge radios and has been labeled as “ghost screen”. This is a major concern during the day as well at night while trying to drive. The distraction from the constant screen changing is a major concern. It is unavoidable to focus on the screen instead of the road while this is happening. Dodge knows of this problem and the repair cost is unaffordable. I feel for the safety of drivers and people on the road, this needs to be addressed. …”
