“Dead battery without warning. The car has only $11,100 miles on it. I had to call roadside service for a jump and go to the nearest place and buy a new battery. This occurred on a sunday. The vehicle was stationary in my garage. I have an extended warranty and all maintenance and recalls have been done at a dealership in a timely manner. I had no indication that there was a battery problem.”
NHTSA complaint #11414867, filed 2021-05, 11,100 miles“At 2 years and 5 months old (55k miles, mostly highway driven) the battery dies and I was stranded when I had stopped and parked. Would not start anymore. Had to jump start car and drive to dealership. Subaru dealership (gillman Subaru southwest, houston, tx) did a load test and determined battery is dead. Would not replace battery. Wanted to charge $500 to replace battery!! Went to auto zone and had it replaced and installed for under $200!”
NHTSA complaint #11388531, filed 2021-01, 55,000 miles“Traveling on highway at 70 MPH when a deer jumped in front of our car and we hit it with the front end of the vehicle crushing the front end. All air bags immediately deployed and the front end began smoking profusely. Within minutes of getting out of the vehicle it burst into flames and the entire vehicle burned up. Concerned that these vehicles will burst into flames during a front end collision at high speeds.”
NHTSA complaint #11282852, filed 2019-11, 21,300 miles“Moon roof cracked. Car was parked away from trees etc. Roof was in tack when parked. Vehicle was not in motion. When I returned to my vehicle 2 hours later it had a huge crack extending from back to front of window. It was a warm sunny day, but not excessively hot.”
NHTSA complaint #11328795, filed 2020-06, 22,160 miles“My windshield and front passenger window are both cracked on my Ascent. They both need to be replaced. This is the 2nd crack and windshield replacement on our Ascent. The 1st replacement was in january 2019, just six months after purchase.”
