Example complaints

“Adaptive cruise control did not disengage when brake pedal was pressed. The cars ahead of me on the highway were coming to a stop, so I tried to veer to the right since the brakes didn't work. The lane assist kept fighting me and wouldn't let me veer off to the right. Almost hit the car in front of me. Now the car is undrivable and needs to be towed”

NHTSA complaint #11753400, filed 2026-07

“While making a left turn out of a parking lot, across one lane of the two-lane road to the middle left-hand turn lane of the traffic signal, the car cut power and issued an alert (which I could only hear - not see due to the urgency of the situation) causing me to almost get t-boned by traffic in the lane that I was crossing. …”

NHTSA complaint #11584902, filed 2024-04

“I was driving with my wife when we were making a left turn. The adaptive cruse control came on. It took control of my acceleration, and steering. I got the car under control, but it was too late. I went across the empty parking lot, and almost crashed into the abandoned building.”

NHTSA complaint #11683942, filed 2025-08

“My 2024 Subaru Crosstrek was stopped at a red light behind a car. My cruise was disengaged after the car stopped and my foot was on the brake. Suddenly, the car lurched forward on its own and only stopped when I pressed hard on the brake and moved transmission from drive to park.”

NHTSA complaint #11619942, filed 2024-10

“I have had several of the safety systems on the vehicle shut off suddenly. Twice, I have taken the vehicle into the dealership to get it looked at and now I will have to do so for the third time. It is pretty concerning because it has to do with all the safety features.”

NHTSA complaint #11556496, filed 2023-11
