“I have a 2007 Suzuki gsx-r 1000 sportsbike and the frame broke in half at the welds. It is a very clean break at the welds. I have searched online and found many other complaints of the same issue for the same bike. Suzuki does have a recall on the 05/06 gsxr 1000 fro the same problem.”
NHTSA complaint #10297779, filed 2010-01, 9,123 miles“2007 Suzuki GSX-R1000, cracked (completely through) sub-frame at the point which supports the passenger. 1st time I noticed when my wife complained she felt like the seat was loose. The dealer in mannheim germany replaced the part under warranty in march 2008. 3 weeks afterward, the replacement part cracked in the exact same location, identical in size and shape to the crack in the original sub-frame. Dealer in germany would not make a second claim and explained that the exhaust system caused the crack by producing a frequency that cracks the aluminum. …”
NHTSA complaint #10231957, filed 2008-06, 6,000 miles“The contact owns a 2007 Suzuki GSX-R1000. While making a right turn at approximately 25 MPH, the vehicle collapsed to the ground. The contact restarted the vehicle and noticed that the frame was fractured. The vehicle was not weighed down at the time of the failure. His vehicle model year was not included in NHTSA campaign id number 09v022000 (structure: frame and members:under body shields). He called the manufacturer, but has not received a response. The failure and current mileages were 8,000.”
