“Stop and go traffic on the 101 eb going 10 MPH at 8:50 am. Tried to stop and brakes failed. I tried again to stop and brakes failed. Ran into the left rear of car in front of me. We were all moving slowly so damage to his car was less than mine. But the feeling of not being able to stop the car was traumatic! Car is not due for service for another 1000 miles. It is serviced regularly by dealer.”
NHTSA complaint #10575739, filed 2014-03, 11,126 miles“The dashboard of my 2007 camry is melting. It is very sticky and parts are also very shiny causing a glare. Toyota says they have no current program to resolve this so I they expect me to pay 2200 to replace the dashboard. I have checked the internet and found a number of other people with the same problem.”
NHTSA complaint #10552254, filed 2013-11, 35,753 miles“I have a 2007 Camry Hybrid. The dashboard is constantly sticky and it feels like it's literally melting away. Especially when it gets hot, I can gouge out the plastic. I talked to the local dealer, and he said I would have to replace the dash. Doesn't seem like its normal wear and tear. Also creating a shine which is causing a glare on the windshield. Concerned about reduced visibility and air bag deployment.”
NHTSA complaint #10640698, filed 2014-10, 97,000 miles“The dashboard on my 2007 Toyota camry has been melting since august of 2012. Since it has started melting the dash is very reflective in sunny weather making it difficult to look out the front windshield. The glare has almost caused me to get in an accident on two different occasions.”
NHTSA complaint #10633400, filed 2014-09, 65,000 miles“My dashboard is sticky and shiny. It impairs visibility. Last summer I had to have my air conditioner repaired and when he took dash apart it was stuck to the other components (like the radio) and it kind of tore the dash board. Seems to be getting worse.”
