“I am filing a complaint against our 2026 Toyota Camry XLE AWD, this complaint probably impacts all new cars. I have no issues with the mechanics or the car, its mileage, etc. However, the so-called safety features, what you call ADAS, are nothing more than a driver distraction. The reason for the complaint is that there is no means by which these distractions can be permanently disabled. I understand that there was a law suit a number of years ago whose outcome resulted in the distractions being permanently on. However, this is wrong! …”
NHTSA complaint #11731815, filed 2026-04“This is the only way I can get my message to you that I know of. It is very distracting having to deal with all the ADAS systems. They are actually a distraction for me, taking my eyes off the road when I most need them on the road to figure out why the nanny alarms are going off. I don't know why these things are being added to vehicles, but we have to turn them off as much as we can. If I get in an accident, it will be because of these features not because I am not paying attention to the road. Thank you for letting me share my perspective. …”
NHTSA complaint #11756249, filed 2026-08“On October 24, 2026, I was driving my 2026 Toyota Camry Hybrid SE eastbound on California Highway 60 near Main Street when I experienced what appeared to be a serious malfunction involving the lane keeping assistance and steering systems. I saw another vehicle and attempted to steer away to avoid a collision. However, the lane assistance system appeared to engage and pull my vehicle toward the other car, in the opposite direction from where I was attempting to steer. I tried to correct the steering and regain control, but everything happened extremely quickly. …”
