“I am filing a complaint against our 2026 Toyota Camry XLE AWD, this complaint probably impacts all new cars. I have no issues with the mechanics or the car, its mileage, etc. However, the so-called safety features, what you call ADAS, are nothing more than a driver distraction. The reason for the complaint is that there is no means by which these distractions can be permanently disabled. I understand that there was a law suit a number of years ago whose outcome resulted in the distractions being permanently on. However, this is wrong! …”

NHTSA complaint #11731815, filed 2026-04

“In an emergency stop on dry pavement, my braked did not operate in a straight line. The vehicle swerved. My statement is attached as Page 4 to an uploaded form supplied by the dealership abbreviated as UB Interview Guide . You have my permission to inspect the vehicle which is in the possession of the Toyota of Santa Barbara dealership. Toyota of Santa Barbara has not to date inspected or repaired my vehicle. I am not aware that anyone has inspected the vehicle. I consider the problem to be one that could cause death or serious bodily injury if the vehicle is driven without repair. …”

NHTSA complaint #11750144, filed 2026-07

“The contact owns a 2026 Toyota Camry Hybrid. The contact stated that while driving at 10-15 MPH, the contact attempted to activate the cruise control mode system for the first time since purchasing the vehicle. The system failed to activate, and a message indicating that the cruise control was not activated was displayed. The contact attempted to activate the system a second time, and the vehicle significantly accelerated, the steering wheel and brake pedal locked up, causing the vehicle to crash through the garage door of a house and into an unoccupied parked vehicle. The air bags deployed. …”

NHTSA complaint #11726303, filed 2026-03, 6,000 miles

“While driving in the early AM, rear ended a mid year model Tundra. Swerved to avoid the 3 car pileup. Crushed in drivers side front quarter panel. Air bags did not deploy. Early warning and emergency braking didn’t engage”

NHTSA complaint #11761906, filed 2026-09

“While actively moving at highway speeds on July 13, 2026, the vehicle suffered an instantant, total loss of all 12V electrical auxiliary power. The dashboard flashed 'Hybrid System Malfunction' and 'Drive-Start Control Malfunction' before all digital instrument clusters, center infotainment displays, and cabin lights went completely dark. Power steering and braking assist dropped to emergency backup thresholds, creating an extreme safety hazard. The vehicle was moved to a dealership where it has remained disabled for 17 days waiting on factory engineering guidance.”
