“System operates normally on initial speed setting, when the brake pedal is applied which cancels the cruise control (which is normal) problem arises when resetting the cruise control, by pressing the + R in order to re-set the cruise control, nothing happens, so I have to press the button again to re-engage the system. The problem is intermittent but it always seems to happen when there is a car behind me.”

“When moving very slow in my gravel driveway, slightly rutted with grass growing in the center, the emergency braking activated hard enough to whiplash my neck locking the front left wheel. My speed was probably less the 5 MPH.”

NHTSA complaint #11679276, filed 2025-08

“The forward collision warning system emits a warning sound even when the car is in reverse. I was close enough to the door of my garage so that the forward warning was beeping. Since this always occurs when I back out of my driveway, I ignored the beeping. Unfortunately there was also something behind me and I backed into a low trash can. This could have been much more serious. The fact that the forward collision warning system stays active when backing up produces alarm fatigue and masks any warning from the reverse system.”

NHTSA complaint #11741592, filed 2026-06

“On August 15, the car with 55611 miles the car gave the error Power Steering malfunction. Steering power low. Also lights indicating cruise control, lane departure and collision warnings have been disabled. On August 17, I drove the vehicle to the Toyota dealership where I purchased it and they gave me a quote for $5492.72 to fix the issue because it was out of warranty and I did not buy an extended warranty. I took the vehicle home and parked it. Steering the vehicle is extremely hard and all safety features ADAS are disabled.”

NHTSA complaint #11757605, filed 2026-08

“Several times when I have honked my horn on my 2025 Camry SE cruise control has engaged. That is a dangerous situation if I'm trying to avoid a slow vehicle or accident and the vehicle goes into cruise control mode. Not sure what Toyota can do about this as the cruise control buttons are on the right side of the steering wheel behind the horn. Maybe it is overlapping or too close. There are auto braking cruise control options with the Camry but there is also a disengage non control mode that could lead to that accident.”
