“Acceleration between 20-45 miles per hour was jumpy and un smooth on a brand new 2007 automatic sedan Toyota Yaris. This started a week after a routine oil change and inspection was done. The car was bought with 11 miles on it and by 6,400 it needed a new transmission. I can't believe I had a brand new car for less than three months and it had a faulty transmission. I smell lemons.”

NHTSA complaint #10173536, filed 2006-11, 6,474 miles

“Recurrent accelerator pedal failure (drive by wire) with check engine light warning. Occasionally, when accelerating, the check engine light comes on and the pedal depressing action initially has no effect for several depressions and then it works minimally. This may last for a while or for just a short period. It has happened several times. I did a search online and other people are having the same problem.”

NHTSA complaint #10413942, filed 2011-07, 62,000 miles

“The vehicle does not shift correctly when going from 10 to 45 MPH. The automatic transmission will not shift correctly to the next gear. It seems to happen more when it is just starting off in the morning rather than after it warms up.”

NHTSA complaint #10187985, filed 2007-04, 6,875 miles

“The check engine light on my manual-transmission 2007 Toyota Yaris will intermittently come on for a period of several hours up to several days before shutting off. This has been occurring for several months now. Sometimes when the light is on, the car accelerates on its own. It also may stall, or the engine will rev really high without the gas pedal being touched. I brought it to a mechanic that replaced one of the sensors, however the problem persists.”

NHTSA complaint #10586330, filed 2014-05

“I've had my 2007 Toyota Yaris for about a year now, in the mornings when the car is cold the transmission doesn't shift properly, when the weather is cold its worse, the other problems is that the car wobbles when im driving slow, an when I drive faster it starts to shakes, an when I run the AC the engine shakes real bad, the dealership when I bought the car is giving me the run around.”
