“while driving a 2022 VW Taos started experiencing a strong wobble in the front driver side tire. It started on a 2.5 hour drive back from dropping my son off at college. While accelerating from 0-40 MPH the wobble would be very strong. After reaching 45 MPH it leveled off. It would wobble more turning or moving to the left than the right side. It was frightening to drive my hour long commute and worry if my tire was going to fall of or, worse yet, would I crash. I could not get in to the VW dealership for a few days prior to this starting. …”

NHTSA complaint #11711807, filed 2026-01

“UNKNOWN The vehicle lost all functionality and did not respond to any commands/requests made by the driver until railroad tracks caused the vehicle to stop and all side airbags to deploy. My girlfriend and myself were at fear for our lives as google maps was attempting to take us unto a bridge when the vehicle became unresponsive while driving. Consequently, we had to choose hard soil as the brakes and steering would not react to any of the drivers commands. I received a parcel of mail about the recall 2 days after the accident in the mail. …”

NHTSA complaint #11531830, filed 2023-07

“It’s happened 2x in owning the 22 Vw Taos. The car will start be good for about 5 seconds, then car shakes like the engines misfiring, check engine light flashes, steering does become locked a little and difficult. Once you start up again it’s fine. Happened in Nov 2024 and today 3/8/2024”

NHTSA complaint #11647167, filed 2025-03

“ABS, Tire Pressure monitor system, front/rear/side assist warning lights lit up while driving solid yellow indicating there was an error. Also a start stop error light on. Stayed lit for one minute and then they all went away. This is now happening every day for the past three days. Today the steering light turn on as well and had difficulty with steering the wheel for about 30 seconds. These incidents occurred after turning the car on after it had been parked for 5 hours. Then while driving at 30-40 mph.”

NHTSA complaint #11576581, filed 2024-03

“While driving a 2022 Volkswagen Taos at about 25 mph on a straight, level two-lane road in a 25 mph zone, the vehicle moved left across the center line and struck an oncoming vehicle front-left corner to front-left corner. The driver reported hearing a loud pop before the vehicle moved left. COMPONENT: Left-front steering linkage. Scene photographs taken before towing show the two front wheels pointed in opposite directions, with the left front wheel turned well beyond the steering system's physical lock, which cannot occur with an intact linkage. …”
