Example complaints

Engine: “I was driving up I-5 , in the third lane when all of a sudden I got a drivetrain malfunction message on my screen I noticed that all acceleration was lost and knew I must pull out of the road for at the speed allowed I was bound to get rear ended on a busy highway like this car in back of me began to honk as I signaled to be allowed move out the road cars proceeded to just go fast and almost got hit a couple times .”

NHTSA complaint #11195381, filed 2019-04, 97,200 miles

Transmission and drivetrain: “The issue began as I was driving north on the express way and the car stopped while going 50mph. It was raining that day and stated I had a drive train malfunction I thought my daughter and I were going to die. Since then I have had the car towed over 6 times and even what I thought was repaired after a $3400 bill from a certified mechanic. I was told it would cost 15k to repair. I currently still owe 15k on this car still. This is regarding a recall that Bmw wants to charge me a $600 diagnostic fee for. This is before doing any work. …”

NHTSA complaint #11076696, filed 2018-03, 32,000 miles

Vehicle speed control: “Most Bmw v8 engines including my own (n62,n63) have know major flaws with valve stem seals and timing chains. These issues cause catastrophic damage to engines and emissions system. It is a major safety issue as well as environmental issue. Vehicles end up immobile on the highway or emitting excesive smoke and fumes into the atmosphere. Bmw has had a class action lawsuit over this I dont believe thats enough. These vehicles need to be repaired”
