“My 2022 BMW X5 is having the transfer case star to fail. Where the symptoms currently are at is the car has a shudder in certain situations. I can feel it when maneuvering at slow speeds and I can feel it at times at speed or when on a steep hill. I bought the extended warranty for the car and the maintenance package for the vehicle. I'm at 68k miles and the shudder started before that but I am still covered under extended warranty. …”
NHTSA complaint #11756717, filed 2026-08“I was driving on a road, the road was clear. No bridges, no underpasses & my sunroof exploded Startling me. I looked around thinking my car was shot at, noticing all my windows were fine. I heard glass falling and noticed it was my sunroof.”
NHTSA complaint #11546823, filed 2023-09“We have started noticing a burning smell whenever the vehicle is plugged into a charging station. At first we thought it was due to the charger, but the issue continued after we replaced the charging unit. Further, we also tried charging the unit at another station and experienced the same issue. This can be a potential fire risk and we'd like to get the matter resolved at the earliest. We have not seen this same issue with the 2023 version of the X5 hybrid.”
NHTSA complaint #11547658, filed 2023-10“On 06-02-2024, at approximately 1430 hours, I was stopped in Traffic, because of a Red Traffic light and I was the last Vehicle in line. In less than a minute later, I was hit by another Vehicle. The other Vehicle left approximately 183' of Skid Marks on the Road and I determined that Vehicle was traveling at approximately 60 MPH, before it hit me, when I was stopped in Traffic. The damage was moderate. I have the Executive Package on my BMW X5, which has a 4 way Camera system, that records an incident, when an impact occurs. …”
NHTSA complaint #11604532, filed 2024-07“I put my car in reverse this evening and the screen kept clicking and unclick the back up assistance button. The steering wheel was moving on its own. I was not controlling it. The brakes were hard and I could not press down more than 1/5-1/4 of the way. The car was not in my control. After an hour on the phone with support and reporting the issues they advised they would tow it. I was able to put the car in reverse push a button off that was selecting without being pressed manually near the driving shifter to get the car to drive normally. …”
