NHTSA complaint #10850407, filed 2016-03, 166,000 miles“I own a 2006 Chevrolet Colorado ls. Inexplicably and randomly, it shifts itself into 4wd high. Often this is while making a right hand turn. Chevrolet stopped servicing my vehicle, telling me there was no cure for this problem. It has happened at high speeds on the highway as well. The most recent date this happened was yesterday while I was turning into my post office. This has been a constant problem since the recorded mileage was 2,109. Records will show the truck was in for service by GM at least 15 times. …”
NHTSA complaint #10325693, filed 2010-04, 72,103 miles“The contact owns a 2006 Chevrolet Colorado. The contact stated that the ABS and traction control lights illuminated, the left turn signal failed intermittently and the heater blower switch only work on the fourth setting. The vehicle had not been inspected or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000 and the current mileage was approximately 44,000.”
NHTSA complaint #10365076, filed 2010-11, 40,000 miles“Rear leaf spring mounts and frame rusting through causing a safety hazard. Chevrolet doesn't offer a repair part nor does the aftermarket. The internet is ripe with other owners experiencing this or similar issues. The consumer stated there is frame corrosion specifically rear frame shackle mounts and lateral supports. The contact believes that the failure comes from the frame being made with the wrong metal thickness or metal that is not rust-proof. The vehicle was taken to a specialty shop to weld the frame, but the contact believes that is not the best way to fix the issue.”
NHTSA complaint #11513576, filed 2023-03“2006 Chevrolet Colorado. Consumer writes to decline repair procedure regarding the child seat tether, because he asserts the suggested method would damage the front seat assembly and provides no benefit recall # 10v575000. Updated 03/10/11”
