Example complaints

Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“Recently, on multiple occasions, have not been able to move console shift handle into PARK position to remove ignition key. This results in vehicle remaining in ACCESSORIES mode. I can turn radio OFF, but driving lights as well as any accessory remain POWERED on. Searched NHTSA for any recalls and found nothing related to my 2022 CHEVROLET COLORADO.”

NHTSA complaint #11613182, filed 2024-09

“I like to have metric units active in my vehicle and this Colorado enables me to switch to metric (i.e. 24h clock, temperature in Celsius, mileage in km,...) It is my understanding that, in the US, this function is allowed but the current speed must also always be displayed somewhere. This is not the case. When switching to metric ALL units everywhere switch to metric, also the current speed is not shown anywhere in miles, so I can never make sure that I am not exceeding the speed limit. It also affects the cruise control function as, also there, I can not see the speed in miles per hour. …”

NHTSA complaint #11518351, filed 2023-04

“When turning off the vehicle the key gets stuck in the ignition. I have to keep turning the vehicle several times and keep moving the shifter to get it to release at least 4 to six times before the key comes out. This happens daily. It started in May and continues to be a daily happening.”

NHTSA complaint #11742235, filed 2026-06

“key can not be removed from the ignition switch without repeated turning to the on/run position and moving the shifter to drive and back to park position until the key position goes into the lock off position and can be removed from the switch at this point the key shaft is sometimes very hot to hot to hold comfortably this is an intermittent problem that is increasing in frequency on this vehicle”

NHTSA complaint #11680281, filed 2025-08

“This is a driver distraction report about Apple CarPlay which likely occurs in the same way in every other vehicle with Apple CarPlay. (Since CarPlay and Android Auto become more and more common a special category should probably be created to enable customers to report safety critical topics) Since iOS14 Apple has switched off the simple map scrolling and zooming functions and made it a big effort to change anything on the map while driving. …”
