“It happen at an intersection. I stopped at a red light. When I went to pull away the brakes were solidly applied without my foot being on the brake pedal. I ut it in park and pumped the brakes. When I tried to start driving again everything was released. It has happened a few times since and after reading online it seems many people are having the same issue.”
NHTSA complaint #10476887, filed 2012-09, 54,000 miles“The brake booster just stop working on my 2007 chevy Equinox. Brakes get stiff and not braking on contact, slides a while before it stops. Took vehicle to multiple mechanics and part is on nationwide back order for at least 2 weeks since multiple Equinox have brake booster malfunction. So now I have to drive unsafely for 2 weeks since unable to rent a vehicle for two weeks. Since so many people are having these problems maybe there should be a recall.”
NHTSA complaint #10329433, filed 2010-05, 44,721 miles“While driving the chevy 2007 Equinox, the brake pedal felt spongy, so I took it in to chevy thorobred for a safety check. I was told by service that it was my master cylinder going out and that it needed to be replaced. I asked if this item was covered under power train warranty; it was not.could this be due to poor materials/ or something he could not say. I said that my auto had 58833 miles is that kinda early for such a part to brake down? I will look on the internet to see if there was a recall notice.”
NHTSA complaint #10535154, filed 2013-08, 58,833 miles“On 7-7-14, while driving home from the doctors' office, the vehicle slowed down. It was like I was driving on a washboard and was very hard to steer. When I pulled off the road and was backing up to park, it was as though I had no power steering. I turned the ignition switch off for a few seconds, and when I restarted the vehicle, I pressed on the brake pedal and attempted to move the shift lever, it would not move until I pressed the brake pedal as hard as I could. Then the vehicle responded normally. This problem has occurred on several occasions. …”
NHTSA complaint #10609557, filed 2014-07, 68,285 miles“I was coming upon a stop sign, it was snowing outside so I was driving quite cautiously. As I came to the stop sign I slid a bit and then the SUV lost all traction and the brake light, ABS light, service stability control, and service traction control lights all came on. I then pulled over to the side of the road restarted the SUV and all lights came back on and I had no antilock brakes, stability control, or traction the rest of the way home. It was terrible. I have never felt like I had no control of a vehicle like that before. …”
