“2 of my rims have cracked the first one around 8,000 miles and the second at around 14,400 miles. I have never cracked a rim before in my life except these 2 within the last few months. I do not take it off-roading and drive on regular roads in Utah primarily. Tire size 275/40R21 however it is the rim that is breaking. I believe these rims are too thin and low profile to handle the weight of the vehicle. Many others online are also experiencing cracked rims. This is also a safety hazard as a rim cracking could cause the tire to fail at high speeds and cause an accident. …”
NHTSA complaint #11765972, filed 2026-09“The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Equinox equipped with Continental Tires, Tire Line: Crosscontact RX, Tire Size: 275/40/R21, DOT Number: IVY03HFMJ0224. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the contact briefly felt violent vibrations coming from the vehicle before the vehicle suddenly veered sharply to the right, slightly leaving the roadway, resulting in damage to the passenger’s side front wheel and tire. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, who diagnosed the vehicle with an unstated failure with the tires. …”
