“While driving down the road at approximately 50 MPH all warning lights on the dash lit up, the speedometer ceased to function, the radio cut out, the airbags were reporting as nonfunctional, the ABS system was reporting nonfunctional. Took vehicle to local mechanic who said the problem appeared to be caused by corrosion on the ABS sensor as well as corrosion on the power distribution cables into the fuse box. According to the mechanic GM was aware of the problem, as technical bulletins dating back to around 2005 were issued. …”
NHTSA complaint #10577161, filed 2014-04, 73,000 miles“The contact owns a 2008 Chevrolet Express. The contact was driving 45 MPH when the exterior and interior lights failed to illuminate. The vehicle was taken to the dealer seven times. The dealer stated that the wiring harness needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 12,000 and the current mileage was 47,115.”
