“Hello, I was driving and all of all sudden the car was not able to make another change and I stopped and checked the fron of my car and notice something was leaking from the engine, and had been told that if the engine hot damage I would have to have a new one put in. I could only spped up to 35 MPH”

NHTSA complaint #11316722, filed 2020-03, 28,000 miles

“Driving at approximately 30 MPH, started to make right turn and engine suddenly shut off and just as quickly kick started. Later same day engine shut off in parking lot, but I was able to immediately restart it. The next day engine did the same thing (shut off) but again, I was able to immediately restart it.”

NHTSA complaint #10703545, filed 2015-04, 168,267 miles

“My truck has the bad GM castech cylinder heads that leak coolant into the oil. Gm knows about this problem via GM TSB. Dealer and mfg. Refused to do anything. I feel this is not a mechanical wear issue. It is bad heads from the manufacturer. Gm should be forced to acknowledge this issue and recall the affected vehicle.”

NHTSA complaint #10555390, filed 2013-12, 160,000 miles

“Exhaust manifold bolts broke off resulting in pinging noise. My mechanic verified the broken bolts and told me this could lead to other more serious problems including possible fire. He also suggested I should contact a GM dealer to see if there was a recall for this problem. I have been driving for more than 50 years and I have never had exhaust manifold bolts just break off.”

NHTSA complaint #10463888, filed 2012-07, 89,000 miles

“My car has only 50,400 miles-its a 2009, yesterday while driving I felt a jolting in the rear end of the truck and it continued each time I stopped and started driving again. I took it to my mechanic who informed me it was a transmission shifting problem. I went on line and discovered that this issue has been related to other silverado trucks as a recall due to a shift cable adjuster problem which can lead to a roll away.”
