“My engine shut off while driving down a highway. I had to coast into an uneven, steep ditch. If someone would have been behind me, it could have caused an accident. I have the 6.2 engine and followed the recall instructions. Dealer said motor was fine and around 7,000 miles later it failed. The oil weight change is not fixing these issues.”
NHTSA complaint #11733828, filed 2026-04“My vehicle lost reverse. It can not reverse what so ever. I was in traffic when it happened thankfully someone where there willing to help. I was told I needed a valve body, after spending 3k plus I was then told the transmission has to be replaced. And its a common thing with these vehicle losing your ability to reverse while driving is very very dangerous.”
NHTSA complaint #11718916, filed 2026-02“I have a 22022 Refresh Silverado 1500 High Country with 12,500 miles that gets a Service Transmission warning and kills the engine leaving it in the traffic. When trying to restart the truck it just keeps flashing errors and can't be restarted for about half hour. This has happened twice to me so far. The codes recorded are in the attached file.”
NHTSA complaint #11668285, filed 2025-06“My truck is equipped with the chevrolet 6.2 engine. I was driving on interstate when I got a reading on the dash that the engine was shutting down due to the engine oil overheating. I did get to the berm safely without being hit by another car. Normally wouldn't think that the engine blowing up would be safety related but it happened in traffic.”
NHTSA complaint #11639209, filed 2025-01“Engine sudden loss of propulsion while driving on interstate w/out warning. Pulled to side and check engine light and hot oil warning came on prior to engine dying. Had to call tow and dealer says engine needs to be replaced but they won’t ship vehicle back after repair and it’s 4 hours from my house, that I need to pick it up”
