“My son fell asleep while driving and hit a tree and none of the airbags deployed. He had his seatbelt on however I don't think it worked properly either due to his chin hit the steering wheel and head hit the windshield. He pushed the entire steering column into the dash about 4-5 inches and couldn't even move the shifter on the column. The truck is totaled and there is major damage to the entire front of the vehicle as he hit the tree head on but toward the passenger side. This is a 2000 chevy silverado crew cab, 4x4, stepside”

The speed at impact was approximately 40 MPH , and the air bags did not deploy. The seat belts performed as designed. However, the 2 injuries could have been reduced if the air bag failure had not occurred.”
