“A very bad ticking noise from the engine. Since I purchased this vehicle, all maintenance and any recall repairs have been completed by the dealership. I first thought that when the oil was changed they did not change the oil filter. Then after a diagnosis of possible lifters in the engine, I did a little research and it appears that Chevy knew this problem existed in 2016 and continued to allow the production of the vehicle through 2018 when the issue was fixed. …”

NHTSA complaint #11734058, filed 2026-04

“The AFM system is a faulty system that starved my lifters of oil and they ended up collapsing causing a flat spot on my cam. The engine code would come up as a misfire but the code is caused by the flat spot created on the cam by the lifter it's a faulty system that cost me $7,000. My 8spd transmission also has a hard shift from 1st to 2nd pushing the vehicle forward and jerking it when it shifts. The dealer and GM said this was natural with this type of transmissions which we now know is a lie.”

NHTSA complaint #11657123, filed 2025-04

“The contact owns a 2017 Chevrolet silverado. While the vehicle was stationary, the front crash collision sensors malfunctioned. The contact stated that the sensors inaccurately displayed a warning that the vehicle was too close to another vehicle or close to striking the vehicle in front of it when there was no vehicle present. Bob mccosh Chevrolet, buick, gmc in columbia, missouri was made aware of the failure and replaced the sensors, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 14,000.”

NHTSA complaint #11072492, filed 2018-02, 14,000 miles

“The steraring wheel shutters, after a few transmission flushes , it went away but still kicks hard when going through gears. The lifters failed in my vehicle 2 times , rods were bent.”

NHTSA complaint #11644824, filed 2025-02

“On 10/26/2019, the 2017 Chevrolet Silverado was being driven in heavy traffic on the 134/210 Freeway area of Glendale, California. The truck was going 10 mph, and when the driver went to stop, the brake petal pressed to the floor, resulting in a rear end collision with the car in front of it. The driver of the first car appeared uninjured, but filed a claim later that he had ongoing lower back issues. The brake light only went on after the incident. The truck was driven to a local Chevrolet dealer and the brakes were serviced a few days later. …”
