Example complaints

Transmission and drivetrain: “My truck has 50k miles and while driving down the road heard a loud pop and felt the truck jerk. Then the truck entered low power mode and the engine light turned on. I took it to the dealership and they are contributing it to the transmission valve body. Has been in the shop for 3 week so far and still no update when the part will be available.”

NHTSA complaint #11654998, filed 2025-04

Electrical system: “When putting vehicle in park, I get a message on dash that says shift to park when the vehicle is already in park. The vehicle electrical components does not turn off. Sometimes if I wiggle/hit or stick my hand under the steering wheel adjustment lever I can get it to turn off. Becoming more troublesome. Through research I see it is a common issue among GM/Chevy vehicles.”

NHTSA complaint #11721726, filed 2026-03

Other or unknown: “My key refuses to come out of the ignition caused by a parking sensor is what Chevy told me. I feel it is a safety hazard because I have to leave my truck idling and take the risk of the truck not registering it’s in park and moving on its.”

NHTSA complaint #11723995, filed 2026-03

Engine: “I was on a two lane driving down the road and getting up to speed. I was still about 45 miles per hour on my way up to 55 mph my vehicle started de rating very fast as I’m driving and then my engine shut off. I had no control over my steering as I made a turn to get off the two-lane road because there was no shoulder. I had to turn the steering wheel really hard and was not able to control the vehicle at all because the engine shut down completely. Everything shut down. I was sticking out in the road. I have no clue yet. What caused it I had to get it towed to a dealership. …”
