“We had two 2000 year model chevolet Silverado truck we got rid of one because the gas gauge when filled up .the law fuel light comes on and it would cost alot to have fixed, I think it should be the factory's responceablity to replace this.I have talked to alot of people who has the same problem with there 2000 model chevy Silverado trucks.what can be done?”

NHTSA complaint #10172806, filed 2006-11, 72,300 miles

“As I was topping the curve of an entrance ramp, I felt the rear of the truck lose traction on the wet asphalt and the tail started to move. I let off the gas pedal to gain control, and the engine continued to propel the truck as if the gas pedal was stuck. This caused the rear of the truck to continue around and slammed the front of the truck into a guard rail and finally came to a stop with truck parallel to guard rail and facing in the opposite direction of traffic. I was holding the brakes as soon as I realized the truck was out of control. …”

NHTSA complaint #10706170, filed 2015-04, 121,000 miles

“Fuel gauge does not work. After filling up gas tank, low fuel warning light comes on. Gauge goes from full to empty. Fuel gauge is unreliable. If trip odometer is not reset at time of fill-up, I have no idea how much fuel I have left in tank. If I miscalculate, I could run out of gas without notice and this could cause a dangerous situation.”

NHTSA complaint #10045312, filed 2003-11, 60,000 miles

“Fuel gauge initially did not register correct amount of fuel when tank is >7/8 full. Now the fuel gauge registers the wrong amount of fuel over 50% of the time no matter how full the tank is. This is very dangerous and can leave drivers standed in very dangerous places, especially considering this is a 4x4 vehicle that my family and I use to get into very remote locations. This should be recalled!”

NHTSA complaint #10128751, filed 2005-07, 60,000 miles

“Rusted steel brake line burst leaking brake fluid and loss of brakes. Fortunately(?) this occurred when vehicle was parked as brake was applied to shift transmission out of park . It could have resulted in a major collision. Upon inspection, all of the steel brake lines are badly corroded, and need to be replaced to safely operate the vehicle. 3 years ago, I had to replace corroded rotors due to corrosion as well. From what I have learned, this is an epidemic for GM trucks of this era. Is GM liable for these costly repairs?”
