“Attempted to stop at 10 MPH driving straight antilock brake system activated, had no brakes, put transmission into 1st gear stopped 1 foot from building. Almost went through plate glass window! I just changed both my front antilock sensor's and had no effect on the loss of the brakes, they just pulsed. Owned this vehicle since 2001 and have had two antilock brake computers replaces at a cost of $800.00 each time.”

NHTSA complaint #10465331, filed 2012-07, 144,000 miles

“I have a 2000 Silverado with 4.8 & a manual transmission. Started hearing noise with clutch disengaged & in neutral. Dealer says bearings in trans are shot . Vehicle has only 67,000 miles. I've changed the fluids religiously on this vehicle never towed anything. I never heard of a manual trans failing this early. Dealer says that sometimes you get a bad one.”

NHTSA complaint #10110451, filed 2005-02, 66,500 miles

“At 36,900 miles I had the rear and front pinion berrings replaced on my drive train. I also replaced the tires which were worn out. The vehicle is not driven much (4.5 years old) as indicated by the mileage. I also experienced my accelorator being stiff when I attempt to depress it. I think GM needs to look into their shoddy transmission components. I also had the rear seal replaced at approximately 10,000 miles.”

NHTSA complaint #10067759, filed 2004-04, 36,900 miles

“The drive train shudders excessively when switched into auto four wheel drive. I noticed this prior to the end of the warranty period but just forgot about taking it in for warranty service as I just stopped using the auto four wheel feature. It started at or about 30,000 miles, the truck has 66,000 now and I am sure the dealer won't listen to me, just my wallet. I'll put this to the test next week on my vacation.”

NHTSA complaint #10005830, filed 2003-02, 30,000 miles

“Service f.w.d. Light comes on , dealer says nothing is wrong but the f.w.d. Dose not work sometimes. I am afraid that it will go into f.w.d. Low when I am driving at a moderate speed causing transmission problems and possible injury.”

NHTSA complaint #10141082, filed 2005-10, 64,000 miles
