Example complaints

Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“When braking the driver's seat moves slightly as though the mounting bolts or slider bolts were loose. I checked the mounting and slider bolts and they are tight, but the problem occurs every time I use the brake pedal. This will result in a virginia state vehicle safety inspection failure because a seat must be secure or it constitutes a danger. Although the vehicle is a 2000 chevy Silverado 1500 series lt extended cab it only has 13,000 miles on it. …”

NHTSA complaint #10614935, filed 2014-07, 12,000 miles

“The contact owns a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado. The contact stated that the front driver seat and passenger seat slides back and forth and would not lock in place. The dealer stated that there was suppose to be a kit available to fix the seat, but that was a year ago. The VIN did not go through at the time of the complaint. The failure mileage was 50000 and the current mileage was 70000.”

NHTSA complaint #10352740, filed 2010-08, 50,000 miles

“The contact stated both front seats move forward without warning while driving various speeds. The dealer was alerted, but the vehicle was not seen for inspection. Updated 05/22/06.”

NHTSA complaint #10156587, filed 2006-05, 81,000 miles

“3 door pickup has a manufacturer's defect. On driver's side seat back will not go up, but on passenger's side does go up, where third door is located. It goes up. But if someone like a small child is in back it would be trapped because seat will not go up. Please provide any further information.”

NHTSA complaint #897364, filed 2001-10

“While entering vehicle the driver's keys fell between the console and the seat. While trying to retrieve the keys, the seat structure cut the driver's hand. Please provide further information.”
