“I pulled into my driveway and the brakes didn`t work, pedal went to the floor. I opened the hood and saw brake fluid all over the left side of the engine.I then noticed several rusted brake lines one of which had a large hole in it. I had my wife step on the pedal and brake fluid came streaming out of the hole.”

NHTSA complaint #10895175, filed 2016-08, 182,000 miles

“When putting my foot on the brake pedal after starting the car and before shifting into reverse, the pedal went to the floor suddenly. I pumped the brakes and no improvement was felt, I then checked under the hood and found that the steel brake line between the left front rubber brake line and the ABS unit had rusted out and was squirting brake fluid when the pedal was depressed.”

NHTSA complaint #10427614, filed 2011-09, 134,750 miles

“My Suburban has 43,700 miles, and the anti-lock brake system has not worked for several years. I checked with the local Chevrolet dealership, and they said that the system is unrepairable, the only thing they can recommend is to pull the fuse and disable the ABS system entirely. I checked with the local parts store, and they tell me that the ebcm- electronic brake control module- was the model kh310, manufactured by kelsey-hayes, and it is no longer available. Further, that there are no used, repaired or remanufactured units available. …”

NHTSA complaint #11325853, filed 2020-05, 43,500 miles

“When I was moving my Suburban in my driveway, I noticed that I had no brakes, and I looked under my front bumper and saw a large brake fluid leak, I would not like to think what would have happen if this would accured when I needed my brakes. Because of this leak and the result of losing my breaks I almost hit my little kid who was outside because our driveway was on a slight grade. And I had no breaks.”

NHTSA complaint #10422123, filed 2011-08, 108,256 miles

“I have a 1999 chevy tahoe that is having the same anit-lock issues that is described in NHTSA #: 05v379000. Why didn't you include the 99s along with 2000-2002 models? This problem first stated last year. I thought I had midas fix it and now the same problem is recurring again. At slow speeds when I press the brakes the anti-lock brakes do not work properly.”
