Example complaints

Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“Experienced a clunking or banging noise when going over bumps. It turns out that the right front mounting bracket for the sway bar broke off the frame of the vehicle.”

NHTSA complaint #11398900, filed 2021-03, 44,000 miles

“During pursuit training a 2013 Tahoe suffered a catastrophic failure of the wheel suspension assembly. This is the third identical incident in the past month. The other two vehicles were 2014 police pursuit tahoes. In all instances the front wheel assembly failed during a turn. The race or inner dust cover for the wheel bearing assembly separated. This resulted in the bearings coming loose, and the wheel subsequently folding under. In two instances the vehicle was in danger of a rollover situation. …”

NHTSA complaint #10695341, filed 2015-03, 85,000 miles

“I received recall and I call my GM dealer and they have not yet called me as of today to get this recall done. They told me that the parts are not in and it has been already 3 months since then.”

NHTSA complaint #11416179, filed 2021-05

“Vehicle randomly throws Stabilitrak, Traction control and ABS codes. Engine derates to limp mode. Transmission goes to full line pressure shifts. A cycle of the ignition system will reset the system a majority of the time. There is no recall but the general consensus in the mechanical world is two things cause this issue. Throttle body is bad and/or the steering position sensor fails causing the stabilitrak system to be disabled (which in a 2013 Tahoe, stabilitrak cannot be turned off) I have replaced the throttle body with an OEM part and the problem still occurs with our vehicle. …”

NHTSA complaint #11458053, filed 2022-03

“The contact owns a 2013 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated that while driving approximately 25 MPH, the power steering failed without warning. The vehicle was increasingly difficult to control. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the failure was unable to be duplicated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage and current mileage was 46,159.”
