My steering wheel don't lock I have to turn the wheel and hold the steering wheel at the same time to start the truck and some times it don't even start.”

NHTSA complaint #10627382, filed 2014-08, 100,000 miles

“The power steering has completely failed on the vehicle. The power steering pump has been replaced 2-3 times. My next step is the intermediate shaft or the gearbox but I have to spend $90 to have a diagnostics test run to determine what the exact issue is. I read some blogs online that said chevy had a recall on this issue but the dealer I called told me that there were not any recalls.”

“I own a 2002 Tahoe that I bought new. With in 6 months it developed a knocking in the front end. It sounded as if the front end was about to fall out. Part of the steering shaft was replaced and it stopped. It is now doing it again. Is there a steering danger that could possible cause an accident?”

NHTSA complaint #10178710, filed 2007-01, 500 miles

“I have a bumping noise in my steering column. I have a 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe with around 70,000 miles. The noise was evident when I purchased the vehicle with 12,000 miles. I do not know if it is a safety problem they are not any recalls listed. I have 3 friends with the same issue with the similar vehicle.”

NHTSA complaint #10173589, filed 2006-11, 12,000 miles

“I ran out of gas on the freeway going 65 MPH with my 5 year old son in the car. Apparently when a chevy Tahoe runs out of gas it shuts down the entire electrical system including power steering as well. I'm unsure of this ------> but it seems like the brakes are affected too. I had a very difficult time merging over to the right hand shoulder of the highway (I had to cross three lanes and merge with on-ramp traffic), given that I had very little steering control and had to use as much momentum as I already had to get off the road to safety, without being hit by someone traveling over 50mph. …”
