“There is a very bad gas smell coming from my 2002 Trailblazer. From what I'm LED to believe it's the gas tank and the fuel pump. I have not had it replaced as of yet but I'm sure I going to have to at my expense. I think it should have been a recall if it is an error on their behave. With all the complaints I'm finding on the internet I think it was something they may have missed.”

NHTSA complaint #10345146, filed 2010-07, 80,000 miles

“Gas fumes inside of vehicle , fumes and leaking gas outside of vehicle near gas tank. Took to GM dealer to diagnose and they replaced rusted and leaking fuel pump module at my cost I did ask for and had returned the old part which was rusted . Would this not be considered a safety hazard with leaking gas? It is a blessing that there was not a fire.”

NHTSA complaint #10216763, filed 2008-02, 48,000 miles

“I notice a strong gasoline smell at first, then a large amount of gas became evident at idle in the driveway. I took vehicle into the shop and was informed of the rotted out pump flange was leaking. I paid almost $700 to have it fixed and complained to the dealer. 12 months later the GM/delphi pump failed and I had to pay to have it replaced again!”

NHTSA complaint #10230486, filed 2008-06, 70,000 miles

“Lately, and intermittently, when the gas tank is 1/2 full or less and a sharp turn is made, the gas gauge goes to e, the low gas light comes on and the car will not go more than 20 MPH as if it is losing power. It's most scary when it occurs making a turn onto freeway entrance ramp and I am trying to get power to enter moving traffic. Typically, I have to pull over, turn the car off and restart to get the car to run normal.”

NHTSA complaint #10452887, filed 2012-03, 86,000 miles

“I own a 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer lt. For the last two weeks there is a very strong odor of gasoline. Apparently it is leaking from the top of the tank. I understand that GM is paying for repairs of this problem on 2002 Trailblazer ext's under a special coverage warranty. If my vehicle has the same problem the ext, why isn't GM applying that coverage to the lt?”
