“I filled up my tank yesterday. One hour later, started the car and the fuel guage read zero, with low fuel indicator on. Now it's intermittent, never going above 3/4 full. I have printed out the NHTSA's investigations number dp 10-001and pe 11-014. I have heard that GM is willing to fix the problem for 1/2 price. What is 1/2 price? 1/2 of what? What do I need to do next?”

“My Trailblazer is also having problems with the gas gauge. My husband actually ran out of gas and had to walk to the station buy a gas can and walk back to fill it. We can no longer reset the trip miles as this is the only way to tell accurately how much farther you can drive on a tank of gas. I have a 2006 chevy Trailblazer.”

NHTSA complaint #10503540, filed 2013-03, 95,000 miles

“After starting the car, I watched the half tank fuel gauge drop to empty. I went to fill up the tank and it didn't take but about a half a tank. The gauge still show empty and warning low fuel was on. Soon the engine light came on after driving a short distance. The fuel gauge continues to show empty.. The tank is full.”

NHTSA complaint #10524549, filed 2013-07, 50,465 miles

“Normal driving and the gas gauge just malfunctioned. I ran out of gas twice because of false readings. One time has on a four lane highway during rush hour. That was extremely dangerous. Nothing has been done to correct the issue. This seems to be a common problem from the 10000 posts I've seen in forums. It is a $400 fix at the local chevy dealer.”

NHTSA complaint #10389677, filed 2011-03, 55,000 miles

“The fuel sending unit of my 06 Trailblazer ls has joined the 668+ that do not work. I have striped my car down to the frame. When I pulled out my gas pump... Wow this thing is made to fail. The arm is so flimsy gas moving could pull the electrodes away from the circuit board. Your investigation was launched months ago. What is taking so long?”
