Example complaints

Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“Friday october 30 at 1 pm pacific coast time, my VOLT lost all power on the middle of the san mateo bridge. There was no shoulder and the car went from 70 miles an hour to a dead stop in about 100 ft. I had a propulsion system failure message on the display screen. I was nearly rear-ended by a semi, who in turn nearly turned over trying to swerve out of my lane. The semi nearly pushed another car into san francisco bay. This is a dangerous vehicle and the government should not allow it to be sold.”

NHTSA complaint #10787489, filed 2015-10, 2,000 miles

“Car experienced sudden loss of power while driving. Warning appeared 'Propulsion Power Reduced.' Was able to continue driving short distance home and parked. Attempted to recharge battery but it would not accept charge. I was able to restart car again with Propulsion Power Reduced' and drove to dealer. Diagnosis: Body Control Module (BCM) failed. Unit was replaced. Vehicle drove normally for short period and issue repeated within one day. Returned to dealer. Issue resolved after second attempt.”
