Example complaints

Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“Suddenly, the clock spring in the steering column failed. I had no horn, cruise control and the air bag light came on. I had it replaced at a cost of $475. After repair I inspected the bad clock spring. The printed circuit spring cable came loose from its outer connector. I don't believe that it was anchored properly or it was improperly designed. I know of 2 other people who had the same problem with Chrysler cars. Since the horn and airbag failed due to this part I believe that it is a safety problem.”

NHTSA complaint #10614893, filed 2014-07, 85,000 miles

“Sudden acceleration. Vehicle took off at a high rate of speed without warning. The brake was pressed to the floor, the car thrown into park, the ignition was turned off before the car would stop. Poles were knocked down, a retaining wall, trees, and a transformer damaged.”

NHTSA complaint #10183694, filed 2007-02, 76,450 miles
