NHTSA complaint #10050174, filed 2003-12, 36,800 miles

“1. Fuel leaks from injector onto engine (fire hazard) 2. Ignition switch cranks engine without turning the key to the start position. 3. Loud screeching noise comes from engine compartment while in park and neutral, this is the same noise the car makes when cranking the engine. Sounds as if the starter is hanging on something (like the flywheel or something). I'm not a mechanic but do have enough knowledge to know this is not right and could be a safety hazard.”

The car constantly runs hot since last year; replaced cooling block; now it only runs hot when idling or in stop-n-go traffic; have to run the heater to keep it from overheating; mechanic cant find the cause; AC temp changes from cool to tepid when car idles at a traffic light; once car begins to move, air retuns to cool. …”

Took the vehicle to dealer no warranty for electrical problems. They said vehicle needed a new ignition switch. Replaced at consumer cost. Also while driving on highway ABS light came on and stayed on, and the wheels locked up at heavy braking. Dealer's response no warranty, diagnosis showed it needed new computer. 3 months later, ABS came on intermittently. …”
