“The other driver was at a stop and I was driving between 50 and 55 MPH on the highway. The other driver pulled out infront of me from my left to right. As we impacted my air bag did not deploy but the passenger's air bag did deploy. I was the only person in my car. I struck him with such force that the vehicle I was driving was forced off the road and then was stopped by a tree. After 2 hits the driver's side air bag still did not deploy. The vehicle was deemed a total loss.”
NHTSA complaint #10654748, filed 2014-11, 215,905 miles“The clock spring has failed in my 2001 Dodge Durango 4wd. The air bag light stays on, the steering wheel radio controls are inoperable, the cruise control is inoperable, and the horn is inoperable. Sounds like the same issue that was a recall on the minivans yet local dealers want me to pay for the repair.”
NHTSA complaint #10098469, filed 2004-11, 64,000 miles“I own a 2001 Dodge Durango. The horn has failed completely. The cruise control has failed completely. The airbag light remains illuminated on the dashboard (along with several other icons), and now I'm finding out that in the event of an accident, the driver's side air bag will also fail. I am told that this is due to a failed clock spring and it affects every control located within the steering wheel. This part is on nationwide backorder and I was told today that 1,400 are backordered. Several dealers have told me they have no idea of when (or actually if) this part will be coming in. …”
NHTSA complaint #10354503, filed 2010-09, 145,000 miles“I was sitting at a stop sign, the car in front of me pulled out into the path of an oncoming car. It swerved to avoid hitting her and his wheels locked to the right and his car turned onto the road I was on and he hit me almost head on at about 30 to 35 miles per hour. My steering rack in penion was broken, my radiator, radiator core, fan, both fan housings, grill, front left lights, driving lights, bumper, transmission line, and damage to inside of dashboard where my daughter's knees hit. Airbags did not deploy!!”
NHTSA complaint #10055061, filed 2004-01, 44,543 miles“The vehicle on this occasion started knocking and the check gauges light appeared. It stated I needed oil when I recently had an oil change. It then cut off. I took the vehicle to the dealer to find out that I needed a new engine supposedly due to sludge build up. I have had all oil changes and services performed. I even went as far as to have the 30,000 mile service done. Previous problems include replacement of an air bag, rear window problems, air conditioner not working, noises while in reverse when parking, all in all also getting stuck in 4-hi. …”
