“While I love my 2001 Dodge Durango rt, there are a couple of serious problems / safety issues the vehicle has. Number one is the passenger front seat is very loose and rocks back and forth during acceleration and braking which could cause severe injuries if the vehicle was in a wreck, whiplash etc. In doing my research the average fix that the dealers will do costs between 600-800.00 which is to replace the motor assembly. …”
NHTSA complaint #11183811, filed 2019-03, 192,000 miles“The pin that holds the brake peddle arm to the master cylinder broke off causing me to slam into the driver in front of me. Causing $3,483.77 damages to my car and about $1,000 to the other vehicle. I was very lucky that no one was injured or killed in the accident had this happened on the highway at speed.”
NHTSA complaint #10363368, filed 2010-10, 97,200 miles“My 2001 Durango has had the rotors go bad and the ball joints (both of which cost me money). The vehicle has 55000 miles on it and is driven 95% of the time on the interstate system. Although I like the vehicle, I think the mft should pay for the replacement. I also, think it is time for a recall. I am hard pressed to buy another Dodge ( I own two) knowing that they don't care about my safety!”
NHTSA complaint #10078332, filed 2004-06, 55,000 miles“The brake system on my 2001 Durango consistently has given me problems even after two changes on the pads. My Durango only has 30,000 miles on it and I keep it up to date according to the manufacture. The paint job on the vehicle which was brand new has faded near the fender walls and the door jams. I love this vehicle but am disappointed with the quality of the most important things in a vehicle; overall appearance.”
NHTSA complaint #10037210, filed 2003-09, 28 miles“Drivers side front brake caliper seized while driving on highway. Vehicle pulled strongly to the left. We were able to stop the vehicle safely. The corresponding wheel and tire were extremely hot from the friction of the dragging brake. Vehicle was brought to a chrysler dealer for service. The dealer replace the brake caliper at our expense. The vehicle had 22,700 miles on it at the time of the incident. Old part was left at dealer and is probably not available.”
