“The Durango goes into 4 wheel lock for no apparent reason. The four wheel lock light keeps going on and off and clicking. The auto won't go anywhere untill I shift it back and forth - reverse - forward - when I first try to back it up there is a noice under the hood that sounds like a chain rattling. This has happened several times and I have had to the dealership at least 5 times. They can't seem to find anything wrong with it.”
NHTSA complaint #10775920, filed 2015-09, 160,000 miles“On 6/14/2015 I was about to back my trailer into my yard, when my gear shift column selector locked in park. I depressed the brake pedal and it would not budge. Additionally, my brake lights are no longer working. Prior to all of these problems I had to replace my ignition for it was locking and would not turn to the on position or accessories position. It cost me $400 dollars for a new ignition to be installed by the dealer and now I have worse problems than before. …”
NHTSA complaint #10727017, filed 2015-06, 138,000 miles“Our Dodge consistently stalls and dies when sitting at a stop light and/or slowing the vehicle to make turns. When this happens the engine dies resulting in the loss of brakes, steering, etc. Multiple times this has almost caused a wreck with other vehicles or has caused us to jump the curb almost hitting trees, etc. We've also had this happen pulling trailers and boats. This is extremely dangerous. I'd like to see Dodge acknowledge this problem before someone gets hurt.”
NHTSA complaint #10488908, filed 2012-12, 41,000 miles“I have a 2006 Dodge Durango that just dies going down the road with out warning! This has happened many times. It started around 80000 miles and has gotten worse. When this happens I loss all power to the vehicle including the steering and brakes. This is a very important issue that needs addressed asap. People carry there family's in these vehicle's. From what I have read this is a ongoing problem with Dodge during. Dodge needs to step up and fix the problem before some one is killed from this issue.”
NHTSA complaint #10505896, filed 2013-04, 103,000 miles“The brakes on my 2006 Durango seem to slip at times. I have gone to stop on several occasions, and the brakes seem to take a second to kick in. I have thought before I wasn't going to stop. This is a great concern to me, especially when I have my grandchildren with me. I feel there is something wrong, and I am not safe at times in this car. It isn't everytime , but it happens too often to feel worry free.”
