“My police department's 2006 Dodge Durango has had 5 cam sensors fail (one sensor twice, the other 3 times). It happens every few thousand miles. The check engine light comes on and the car runs rough. Each time the patrol vehicle is taken out of service. This time I'm told that the part is on back order with says to me that we are not the only people having this problem.”

“I've had problems with this vehicle since I bought it. Somedays the truck won't crank, check engine light goes on and off took it so salisbury Dodge kept my vehicle for 4 days gave it back to me said they couldn't find anything wrong with it said they turned the light off for me 2 weeks later same problem like truck not getting gas, truck just cut off on me and my family while driving down the highway. …”

“I was just wondering if anyone else had problems with both exhaust manifold gaskets failing at 40,000 miles on a 2006 Dodge Durango. Fortunately I had an extended warranty that covered the problem. All other cars that I have had have gone much longer before needing the gaskets replaced.”

NHTSA complaint #10247198, filed 2008-10, 40,000 miles

“I have a 2006 Dodge Durango and recently it has started dying while driving. When this happens, the check engine light illuminates and the engine shuts off. Steering and braking become very difficult and is very dangerous. My mechanic used a diagnostic tool and said it showed a code for the cam shaft sensor, and it was replaced. Happened again a few weeks later. The diagnostic tool showed a code for the crank shaft sensor, and it was replaced. It is still happening. …”

NHTSA complaint #10411704, filed 2011-07, 68,000 miles

“My Dodge Durango has been having this problem for awhile. I finally did some online reading of posts and found other drivers having the same issue. Almost every day when I start my SUV the RPM's rev up and down. It also does this when I am sitting at a drive-thu line, stop sign, or in traffic. It also has died on me when driving. Mostly when coming from a stop, but happens when making turns, or sometimes just for no reason at all. If it doesn't stall it hesitates. It also will jump forward when coming to a stop. Like I said this has been happening for awhile. …”
