“Has had problems with engine on Durango 4.7l overheating, I drive 15 minutes to work when its warm outside and its already overheating, ive checked various forums online each one had numerous people complaining about the same issue, with all the people complaining I figured Dodge would find a solution, or figured someone would file a class action suit, but nothing has been done.”

NHTSA complaint #11023349, filed 2017-09, 229,000 miles

“Whenever it rains or I go through a car wash my car dies and the service engine light comes on. The steering wheel won't move, therefore I have no control over my car. We were in tennessee the first time this happened and we were coming down the mountain when it died and we lost all control and almost got hurt and almost hurt others.”

NHTSA complaint #10862283, filed 2016-04, 96,000 miles

“I was going 45 miles an hour with all my 4 children and husband in vehicle when without warning the vehicle shut off. There is no code vehicle loses power steering and brake function and you have to shut vehicle down and restart to gain control again. This has happened 7 times! …”

NHTSA complaint #11193337, filed 2019-04, 120,000 miles

“Stalled in rainstorm while driving on interstate 95, a day before. We had battery tested at advanced auto. Battery good. Drove home. The next day we started it up and it made a loud noise. Shut it off and then restarted it. The engine was rapping. Needed a new engine. Upon lifting hood to see problem we saw a hole in the block. You could see connecting rod in there.”

NHTSA complaint #10786509, filed 2015-10, 132,771 miles

“The vehicle will intermittently shut off without warning. Does not sputter or stall out it just shuts off like you turned the key off. No codes thrown so the dealer wont acknowledge it. Vehicle will start right back up but I have seen several complaints where people have wrecked because they lost control of steering and braking. So far this has only happened to me while at a stop light but from other reports it sounds like it can happen at any time.”
