“Electronic throttle body: driving down the highway the vehicle lost power, I was able to avoid traffic and make it safely to the side of the road. After a few minutes I was able to restart the vehicle and continue on. A few days later this happened again, fortunately on a less crowded street.”
NHTSA complaint #10981002, filed 2017-04, 81,000 miles“When pushing throttle, engine hesitates. I have complained to dealer before, but they say they can't find anything wrong. I suspect throttle body but now not covered even though under recall. I believe to be a safety hazard. 48000 miles.”
NHTSA complaint #11311156, filed 2020-02, 47,000 miles“The 2010 to 2012 has a recall involving the fuel system leaking. My vehicle is also leaking fuel every time the tank is filled (no, we do not top off ), and the fumes are noticeable in and out of the vehicle. This has been happening since approximately 90,000 miles.”
NHTSA complaint #11067320, filed 2018-02, 105,000 miles“While driving the vehicle at around 50 MPH it lost all reaction to the accelerator and coasted to a stop while in heavy traffic. I turned the car off and waited 5 minutes, then started it again and began to drive. Within seconds the vehicle repeated the incident. I managed to get it into my driveway after repeated stops and restarts of the engine.”
NHTSA complaint #10548356, filed 2013-10, 51,500 miles“Multiple times my car is stalling while driving. The first incident I was driving 55mph. I took vehicle to Ford and was told it was the electronic throttle body and that the part is on back order for at least 4 weeks. A 4 week part back order seems to me a strong indicator that several people are experiencing this very dangerous driving scenario.”
