“While traveling at approximately 45mph, without any warning the vehicle lost complete power and stalled in the middle of the road. I was able to restart, drive approximately 50 feet with the same results. A wrench symbol appeared. Called a wrecker and had the vehicle towed to my dealership service department. Was informed by the service rep that they needed to replace the throttle body but did not have the part available. Nine days later today I have no answers, explanations, or transportation,”
NHTSA complaint #10524034, filed 2013-07, 18,879 miles“I got a flat tire on the rear right side of a rented 2010 Ford Escape. The enclosed jack is unable to raise the vehicle high enough to allow removal of the flat tire and installation of the spare tire. This was the case even after I placed the jack on a 2 inch board to prop it up. I was fortunate to be within phone contact of a aaa service station so that the tires could be exchanged using a large professional jack. This could have been a serious issue on a country road in the middle of the winter.”
NHTSA complaint #10302043, filed 2010-01, 4,100 miles“Throttle body failure, making my 2010 Ford Escape inoperable. It shuts down completely on the highway. I lost power on the interstate while in traffic. This happened 3 times and I've had to rent a car while I wait for the throttle body part which is on back order.”
