Example complaints

Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“I have a 2001 Excursion and the driver's side seat belt pops free by it's self several times during a couple of hours of driving. Dealer said it wasn't covered. I also had the windows & door locks stop working back in 2006. It needed a new gem module and some fuse panel work (due to a leak in the windshield seal from the factory). I finally saved up enough money to get everything fixed-- roughly $1100.00. The rep. From the window company said he has seen several like this himself.”

NHTSA complaint #10252327, filed 2008-12, 75,000 miles

“I bought the 2001 Excursion aug 25, 08. The passenger seat belt dis-engages while driving down the road. Ford said their is not a recall on my Excursion, and the warranty for seat belts is only 5 years.”

NHTSA complaint #10251454, filed 2008-12, 105,000 miles

“Driver seat belt unlatches on occasion after being fully engaged. Similar to the situation that resulted in a recall in 2001. We did take the vehicle at that time for the recall.”

NHTSA complaint #10586863, filed 2014-05, 177,842 miles

“Safety belt on passenger side of middle bench will not latch. This has occurred for the second time. The part was previously replaced. We have been trying to get this fixed for some time but the dealership has had a myriad of excuses such as wrong parts, wrong tools or backordered.”

NHTSA complaint #767285, filed 2002-09

“The seat belt broke. Webbing was cut in three seating positions. The drivers seat, the middle row and the third row seat. Second and third row seat appears to been cut with a razor.”

NHTSA complaint #10006852, filed 2003-02
