“I purchased a set of 4 spector advanta a/t size lt265/75 r16 tires for my 2004 Ford Excursion from les schwab in meridian idaho on 15 may 2008. I noticed that at highway speed the front of the vehicle would shake a bit. Les schwab checked the balance, alignment, etc. But noted nothing wrong. Since I use my vehicle for local travel and to tow my travel trailer I don't travel at high speeds very often. On 25 november, while traveling with my family from boise idaho to las vegas nevada we experienced a catastrophic tire failure in the left rear. …”

NHTSA complaint #10289847, filed 2009-10, 96,000 miles“The complaint is in regard to the bf goodrich rugged trail t/a lt265/75r16 tires as supplied on my Ford Excursion vehicle. I had to replace the tires prematurely due to large cracks opening up on the side-walls of all 4 tires, in fact pieces of rubber starting flaking off of the side-walls. I was afraid that I was setting my self up for a blow out during my many trips from ky to chicago. At the tire dealer-ship where I had them replaced they wondered why I was replacing them, until I pointed out all of the cracks. Tread life appeared good ,but the side-walls sure lacked the same ability.”
